Dr. Nicholas Pham, M.D. ~ Pediatric Physician
I received my baccalaureate and medical degree from the University of Kansas in 1997. Rock Chalk Jayhawks!!! I completed my residency at St. Joseph’s Medical Center here in Phoenix in 2000. I am a Board Certified Pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. I have been practicing pediatrics in Surprise, AZ since 2003.
As a pediatrician, I feel that it is my job to give parents medical advice on care for their child’s development and physical well-being. Ultimately, I believe it is the parent’s choice to follow my advice. Occasionally, I am reminded that doctors “practice” medicine because I will not always have the answers, but I am dedicated to learning through reading journals, continuing education seminars and correspondence with my colleagues.
I married my high school sweetheart and have 2 wonderful children, Ben and Emme. My daughter will be entering kindergarten in 2009 and my son will be going to fourth grade. They are my pride and joy. Ben always has a huge smile on his face and Emme is full of sass.
Daryl R. Marcelo, D.O. ~ Pediatric Physician
Hello! I am Dr. Daryl Marcelo. I was born in Thailand, but was raised in Orange County, CA. I attended the University of California, Irvine and graduated with Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Psychology. I was able to realize my lifelong dream of becoming a physician and graduated from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. I always had a special interest in pediatrics due to my own relationship with my pediatrician, and my decision to become a pediatrician was reaffirmed during my rotations in medical school.
I moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2004 for my pediatrics residency at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. I finished residency in 2008, after a year of serving as Chief Resident for the Pediatrics Residency Program. I am a Board Certified Pediatrician and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Despite my degrees, my greatest educational training in pediatrics started when I became a mother. My passion for caring for children has grown through the experiences my husband and I have shared in raising our daughter.
I look forward to meeting you and your family and to providing the best possible medical care to my patients at Surprise Pediatrics.
Johanna Brooks, P.A. ~ Physician Assistant
Hi! My name is Johanna. I am a Physician Assistant and am so happy to be working in pediatric medicine. I am originally from Ohio and have an undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Dayton. I decided to go to P.A. school specifically to pursue a career in which I could work with children. In 2005, I obtained a Masters of Medical Science from the Yale University School of Medicine Physician Associate Program. While at Yale, I was fortunate enough to do elective rotations in Pediatric Surgery, the Pediatric Emergency Room, and Pediatric Psychiatry. It was there that I met my husband, a fellow P.A. currently working in Orthopedics. Prior to moving to Surprise, I worked with a large pediatric group in Las Vegas.
To me, being able to watch children and their families grow, develop, and change over time is the most rewarding part of my job.
When I am not spending time with husband, I enjoy running and traveling.
